Mark C. Andersen, DVM

Dr. Mark Andersen was born and raised in Michigan, graduating from Cass Technical High School in Detroit. He started his college career in 1966 at Michigan State University as a chemistry major. He transferred to Florida State University in 1968 to pursue his interest in biology. He graduated from FSU in 1971 and returned to enter Michigan State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine where he would earn his DVM degree with high honors in 1974. He moved to Port Orange, Florida in 1975 and worked with Dr. William Rippey until he opened the first Ravenwood Veterinary Clinic in 1980. In addition to general small animal practice, he became one of the few veterinarian at the time to work with birds, an interest he still pursues. Dr. Andersen has two daughters. Outside of work he is an avid kayaker, car enthusiast and motorcycle rider. He currently works with greyhound rescue groups, and to this date has repaired more than 900 greyhound fractures.
